Product Description:

FGF Basic is a heparin-binding growth factor and is critical for human embryonic stem cells to remain in an undifferentiated state during cell culture. However, FGF basic’s half-life is so short that daily media changes are needed to maintain and expand stem cells. HumanKine® FGF-Basic TS™ is engineered for enhanced thermal-stability without modification of biological function, and was developed to improve stem cell culturing and expansion protocols.

FGF-Basic TS from HumanZyme is more resistant to degradation than native FGF-Basic.

FGF-Basic TS is more resistant to degradation than native FGF Basic when incubated at 37°C in cell culture media. In fact, HumanZyme’s collaborators’ experiments have demonstrated that cell culture media changes, when FGF basic TS replaced regular FGFbasic, can be performed every two or three days rather than daily. The collaborators also showed that the stem cell culture retains both pluripotency and good cell viability.

Activity Assay:

The specific activity was determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of the 3T3 cell line.

Purity Confirmation:

The protein was resolved by SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and the gel was stained with Coomassie blue.

HumanKine proteins can be adapted to cGMP production.
